How to Write and Say a 30-60 Second Introduction

Have you attended a meeting or have been at a social gathering and someone asks: "What do you do?" One of the best ways to introduce yourself and let people get to know you, and your business is by having a unique message or self-introduction that is short and memorable.

Your self-introduction is sometimes called an "elevator speech- - a 30-60-second introduction of you. The reason is it called "an elevator speech" is that is the approximate time you have riding between floors on an elevator to talk with someone. It you met someone on an elevator who wanted to know who you are, and what you do, you only have about 30- 60 seconds until the elevator stops at the next floor to introduce yourself and let them know who you work with, or what you do, and the services/product you offer.

Your self-introduction needs to be stated in your words, that you feel comfortable telling someone who you are, whether you're on the elevator, attending a social gathering, or attending a meeting. Your introduction lets people learn who you are and decide if they have something in common with you, as well as if they might need or know someone who needs the service/product you offer.

How to Write and Say a 30-60 Second Introduction

Your introduction should be tailored to the specific people you are meeting.

Your self-introduction is usually a couple sentences that describe a concise summary of:

1 Who you are, and what you do - -and perhaps the service or product you offer

2 why that person may need what you offer, and

3 what distinguishes you and your service or product over others that provides the same service/product.

How To Develop a Self Introduction

Keep your introduction brief. It's an opener, not a complete description of everything you do.

Your 30-60 Second Introduction should be:

1 short

2 concise

3 relevant

4 attention grabbing

5 persuasive

6 a call to action

Your introduction may not appeal to everyone - but that's the point. It's a narrowly targeted message. It's a way of "lasering" who you are and not trying to appeal to everyone you meet. This introduction when stated at networking or business meetings and social events, lets others know who you are, what you do, and decide if they want to learn more about you, and or do business with you.

Five- Step Formula for a Writing Your 30-60-Second Introduction for Business or Networking Meetings

Here is a process to develop your self introduction when attending business or networking meetings. It describes who you serve and what you help them do:

(See the example of what to say typed in blue font below each step.)

1) Name your target market. Start by stating specifically who you work with - who you serve, or what you do.

"I work with empty nesters and baby boomers and professional

2) Describe the main problem, challenge, frustration or need that they have. Describe emotions that your client experiences, by tapping into a deeper need or issue that is of real concern for them.

...who are exhausted and overwhelmed with daily routines, who are in a toxic relationship with a spouse, family, co-worker, and are feeling stressed out with their job.career....

3) Describe your solution that will reduce or solve that problem in terms that person can understand. Describe the result s/he can expect to get from working with you. Clearly define how your service or product leads to a long-lasting result or 'bottom line' dollar impact for your client. Use words that will be meaningful to them. State something that will help the person save time, money or solve a particular problem.

I help clients identify what personal or professional goals they want to achieve that will eliminate a problem they have.

4) Add something that is unique about your services or products - something that would differentiate your and make you stand out from your competitors. This is where you help them understand why they would choose you over others who provide a similar service. It might be a method, process, assessment or model you have developed, or specific results you have helped clients achieve.

We work together to get through this as a team and solve these problems.

5) State a call to action - Say a short sentence that requests the listener to

take action now.

Baby Boomers Caring For Elderly Parents - Six Tips For Overcoming Caregiver Stress and Guilt

Caring for elderly parents as well as their own family many aging baby boomers find they are stressed and dealing with guilt. Overcoming caregiver stress and the guilt feelings that often accompanies the role of one person taking care of another is possible.

Guilt is a feeling of perceived failure. This failure may come in the form of expectations we set for ourselves or what we perceive are the expectations that others have set for us.  Our response to these feelings of perceived failure affects our decisions and our actions. Guilt, in any form is detrimental to any relationship.

When caring for another individual, guilt presents itself to us on many different levels. Along with guilty feelings, there are feelings of anger, frustration, resentment and sadness. Many individuals torment themselves with unrealistic expectations and worry trying to anticipate every possible need.

Baby Boomers Caring For Elderly Parents - Six Tips For Overcoming Caregiver Stress and Guilt

Others find themselves dealing with the disappointment and frustration of uninvolved and uninterested siblings or extended family members Still others find guilt stemming from sadness and fear of losing someone very close to them. They second guess themselves into believing that if they had paid attention sooner, or did something different their aging senior's condition would be different. What ever the reasons for guilt, they take away from all the good a care giver does.

Guilt can mentally and emotionally imprison a person into making poor decisions or becoming totally immobilized to make any decision. Some individuals are more inclined to feel guilty than others. Learning to manage guilt is imperative for the physical and emotional well being of the care giver as well as the aging senior that are providing care.

Six tips for dealing with guilt and overcoming caregiver stress

The first step to overcoming guilt is to acknowledge that is a feeling you are experiencing. There are many other feelings that go along with guilt such as sadness, anger, frustration and resentment. If you can acknowledge that you are having these feelings, you can begin to see things from a different perspective. If you have identified and acknowledged you have these negative feelings, take time to identify what is causing you to have these feelings. Are you angry and resentful that you siblings do not pitch in and offer assistance? Do you feel that your life is not your own? Are you afraid that you are losing someone close to you? Maybe you feel guilty because you wish you did not have to care for the aging seniors in your life. Many feel that they cannot do enough to or are the opposite and resentful that they have to do anything at all. Have you considered your needs and wants? This is a very important step for every care giver to realize. The caregiver needs are just as important as the person for which they are providing care and support. Caregivers feel guilty that they have needs. Many feel that their needs are not as important as their aging senior. This thought can be a big culprit and be the root cause of dealing with guilt and caregiver stress. A care giver must come to realize and accept that unless they take care of themselves and take action to meet their own needs, eventually they become ineffective as a care giver. Learn to be kind and patient with yourself. You are going to have your good days and your bad days. Allow yourself to feel the negative feelings. Realize that your feelings do not have to control your actions. With practice, over time, the guilt feelings will subside.  Acknowledge you have needs and take action to get those needs met. It is OK to have some "me" time. In fact it is necessary. Give yourself permission to be selfish at times.   Ask for help from others or accept help when it is offered. If you have uninvolved siblings investigate other avenues through the local church, community program or aging and adult services. Explore options to get some free time.  Aging baby boomers caring for elderly parents must realize that guilt is an emotion that comes with the role of caregiver. Dealing with guilt and overcoming caregiver stress can be accomplished by taking time to meet your own needs. Caregivers need to focus on the good that they achieve everyday and the improved quality of life they bring to the aging senior in their life. With this perspective guilt will never be an issue.

Microcurrent Facial Toning - What is it & How Does it Work?

As "baby boomers" age, more advancements are being made in anti-aging products to meet their needs. Electronic facial machines, which are designed to tighten and tone sagging facial muscles, are no exception.

The latest facial toning machines use "microcurrent" technology and are one of the hottest things in the anti-aging industry right now. There's a good reason that these machines are so popular. Using microcurrent impulses, they give almost instant, visible results to tighten, tone, and firm aging skin. In fact, the results from microcurrent facial toning are so dramatic that they are often referred to as "non surgical face lifts".

Just how does microcurrent facial toning work? To understand that, we first need to understand what causes our facial skin to wrinkle and sag. As we age, our muscles become accustomed to certain expressions and tend to "stick" in these positions. A great example of this is the furrow between the eyebrows that many people get. At the same time, other muscles in our face are hardly ever used, and they begin to atrophy, which leads to sagging. An example of this can often be seen around our jaw lines, chins and necks where we tend to develop sagging or loss of definition as we get older.

Microcurrent Facial Toning - What is it & How Does it Work?

Microcurrent facial toning machines sends safe, painless impulses to the muscles in your face that help overly-tightened muscles to relax and helps under worked muscles to regain strength. In essence, microcurrent facial toning "re-educates" the facial muscles and restores them back almost to their original shape.

When this happens the visible results are quite dramatic and the face is lifted, firmed and toned back to a much more youthful appearance. At the same time, the microcurrents improve circulation to your face which stimulates production of collagen, improves tone and texture, and improves or eliminates fine lines.

Besides the fact that it really works, one of the things that makes microcurrent facial toning so popular is that most people see visible results after just a single treatment. This gives "instant gratification" which is seen so rarely as a result of other anti-aging products or techniques. In fact, the results are so noticeable that if you only treat half your face one time you can see a visible difference between the half you treated and the half you didn't.

Microcurrent facial toning is cumulative as well, which means that the more treatments you have, the more improvement you will see in your face. The treatments are rather expensive, at an average cost of 0/treatment. Most people get at least 7-12 treatments to get their desired results.

Although microcurrent facial toning is the current "buzzword" in anti-aging, the technology is not new. It has over 50 years of historical data and clinical trials that back up its anti-aging benefits. That's great piece of mind that shows not only will it work, but also that it is safe and does not have long term side effects.

Microcurrent facial toning is a great alternative to getting a face lift since it is non-invasive, does not require any recovery time, gives instant results, and does not have the same potential for harmful complications as surgery does.

Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds for Men

Just like women, men have their own special dietary needs and health concerns, especially as they age. The benefits of eating pumpkin seeds for men are numerous and here's what this perfect miracle food can do for them.

As men age, zinc levels start to decline. This is can lead to problems ranging from impotency to prostate enlargement. This mineral is also the highest on the list needed by men for fertility and performance. Zinc prevents the build up of DHT, an androgen which has an impact on male sexual health as well as hair growth. When DHT levels build, it breaks down testosterone which has an impact on balding, fertility and sexual health. Without this mineral sperm become clumped together and lack the ability to swim which then decreases the fertility of the man. The large amount of zinc found in pumpkin seeds can help combat this and this is one of the hugest benefits for men.

Zinc also contributes to bone density levels. Osteoporosis, a disease normally thought to be related to postmenopausal women, is also a potential problem for aging men. Out of 8 men over the age of 50, 1 will suffer an osteoporotic fracture. The zinc found in pumpkin seeds can help stave off this disease!

Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds for Men

The nutrition in pumpkin seeds is very important to prostate health. Studies are still being done about the effect of pumpkin seed carotenoids and its relation to interrupting the activation of prostate cell multiplication. This is referred to as BPH, standing for, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, which is enlargement of the prostate gland. Although it is unknown exactly why pumpkin seeds work, eating them regularly has the benefit of helping maintain prostate health and thus prevent cancer.

Another benefit is that they contain minerals essential to male sex drive. Pumpkin seeds are loaded with calcium, niacin, phosphorous and potassium. Phosphorous is directly linked to sex drive and is crucial to energy production. Niacin is beneficial with its blood dilating effects and its effect on increasing tactile sensations. Myosin is a rare, motor protein, amino acid essential to muscle contractions and is also imperative to male performance.

The generous amounts of the electrolyte potassium contained in these seeds is crucial to helping with hypertension, promotes faster healing and is a natural pain desensitizer, helping to alleviate migraines. This is especially important for men who suffer stress or who work out and exercise a lot and so get injured more frequently.

Yet another benefit of pumpkin seeds is a little known mineral called manganese. It is found in minute amounts in our kidneys, liver and bones. It is imperative for proper nerve and brain function and also helps regulate blood sugar. This essential mineral also helps form our sex hormones. Studies have found that men suffering from ED, or erectile dysfunction are deficient in manganese. It can also be used to combat fatigue but must be taken as a supplement only under the direction of a medical practitioner. Manganese is also a component of SOD, an antioxidant that fights free radicals. Damage caused to our cells, and DNA can be prevented and even reduced by this mineral.

All of these are benefits of pumpkin seeds, but let's not forget their basic nutrition. These tiny seeds are packed full of vitamins, including Vitamin C, B1 and B2, Vitamin B6. The pantothentic acid found in the seeds is another crucial ingredient for the formation of hormones and aids digestion. Vitamin K is vital to the body's blood clotting capabilities.

Pumpkin seeds can still be purchased out of season at your local grocer or even ordered online from specialty shops and can be eaten in a variety of ways. Raw pumpkin seeds are delicious, but there is nothing like having them roasted whole, or roasted and ground up to add to your favourite side dishes. Try the benefits of pumpkin seeds for yourself and enjoy!

Impact of Baby Boomers on American Society

Demographers' defined the baby boom as a birth surge started in 1946, after the World War II and reached its peak in 1957 and continued until 1964 because of the postwar prosperity. Most people uses "generation" as their term but demographers precisely referred it as "cohort" (group of individuals experiencing a certain event within a specified time). This reveals that social changes interconnect with the life of every baby boomer.

There two groups of baby boomers. The babies born from 1946 to 1955 were called early boomers. Those who were born from 1956 to 1964 were called as late boomers. The last set were born during the first tour of Beatles in America and the first early ones was approximately 18 years that time. They are were noticeable because of their big populations. They crowded junior high, elementary schools, high schools, labor market, and colleges.

Studies show that the impacts brought about by the society where baby boomers grew up contributes a lot in reshaping the society. They never think like their parents. Because the population of these cohorts is unprecedented during the 20th century, their beliefs and behaviors are then predicted to dominate things.

Impact of Baby Boomers on American Society

But there is also a great discrepancy in terms of economic status between early and late boomers. Compared to the energetic job market and emerging economy laid beneath the feet of early ones, late boomers needs adjustment on economic shifts. It is due to the rapid growth of service sectors, jobs for middle class became less stable, changing locations of workers, and career market adjustments.

Most are considered economic security as an elusive thing. They are the people who were born after the era of civil rights. Conducted studies even reveals income differences according to ethnicity, race, and birthplace creating ethnic classes. It was because one third of the population are Hispanic, African-American, or Asian besides the black and white Americans. Take for instance, the black boomer's generation are considered inferior than whites, although the generation were rated the best in terms of education.

It is a fact that the life was accompanied by postwar transformations changing the American society. The ideas about sexuality, gender, and family were altered profoundly. Likewise, parenthood changed, old age and retirement was redefined, and labor forces were transformed. Even in their old age, they seize opportunity to stay involved and active like staying in their work force to meet the responsibilities of supporting their children.

The changes in the society were never brought solely by the stereotype but also the conservative types like Seth Grossman. They expressed themselves through street protests while the conservative use other forms such as leaflets, student newspapers, and forums. Although their actions did not attract the attention of media but they achieved their success when they forced a referendum which resulted in the withdrawal of Duke students from the National Student Association.

Conservative may not be a part of the projected boomer's image but they became a strong force in making their way silently. They are not even in the front page of the newspapers because they still attend their class while others were boycotting. Nevertheless, they have supported conservative politicians like George Wallace in 1968.

One third of the populations of early boomers served during the Vietnam War. Other made a name in different fields throughout history. Joyce Johnson was an African-American who belongs to the stereotype her activist work in her graduate school. When she entered Duke School, she sought for advancement not only for herself but her entire race. She belongs in the Afro-American Society involved in the iconic events in the Duke campus during the 60s. Grossman and Johnson are baby boomers who contributed great change in their society.

Deep understanding about the baby boom generation is very important as they advanced on to their old age. It should be more of demographic curiosities because if demographic bulge move continuously on the system, then economic differences also persists. They once do their best in shaping the society providing significant impacts on the lives of many people besides themselves.
